Bulk Hemp Fibers

Find the bulk hemp fibers for your needs.

Fine long or short hemp fibers for spinning, blending, making paper, hempcrete, hemp paper, and or whatever you want.

We know there is a big push for eco-friendly, organic and sustainable products, so we have your back with quality hemp fibers both bast and hurd fibers.

Such as tow fiber, degummed fiber, cottonized fibers, hemp animal bedding fibers, and much more.

Although there are two types of fiber that come from the hemp stalk, bast and hurd fibers, bast fiber is often simply referred to as the “hemp fibers”. Bast fibers are the long stringy, strong outside fibers of the stalk.

Hemp bast fibers can be between approximately 0.91 m (3 ft) and 4.6 m (15 ft) long, running the entire length of the plant.

Later in the processing the fibers can be cut into shorter pieces.

Bast fibers give the plant its tensile strength and durability.

The hurd fiber (which is typically called “hemp hurds”) is used in hemp building materials, animal bedding, paper making, plastics, and much more.

Depending on the processing used to remove the fiber from the stem, the hemp may naturally be creamy white, brown, gray, black, or green.

There are so many uses for hemp bast and hurd fibers: from animal bedding to hempcrete bricks to plastic composites of all sorts!

A Little Hemp Fibers History

In Western and Eastern Europe as well as the Orient, hemp fibers have been used to strengthen composite products, and in other building materials for many construction and manufacturing applications.

A mixture of fiberglass, hemp fiber, kenaf, and flax has been used to make composite panels for automobiles.

The first identified coarse paper, made from hemp, dates to the early Western Han Dynasty.

Hemp shives or hurds are the core of the stem. In Europe, they are used for bedding (horse bedding for instance), or horticultural mulch among other uses.
